MOTS-c
Longevity & Cellular · 10 mg fill · Research Peptide
A 16-amino-acid peptide encoded inside the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene.
Overview
MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide: a 16-amino-acid sequence encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene (MT-RNR1), first described in 2015. It is one of a small set of peptides transcribed from mitochondrial rather than nuclear DNA, and the published mechanism of interest is activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) via the folate–AICAR pathway. Work to date is preclinical. Supplied lyophilized for laboratory research.
